Tranmere and Notts County played out a largely uneventful goalless draw at Prenton Park.

Despite both sides enjoying plenty of possession the first half was lacking in terms of clear-cut opportunities.

Luke Norris had the first real chance of the game in the 18th minute but his close-range effort was blocked by Alex Bass, making his debut in goal for Notts County.

At the other end, the Magpies’ best first-half opportunity came when Cedwyn Scott’s left-footed shot from the edge of the box was blocked just before the half hour.

The home side began the second period brightly and debutant Josh Davison found himself in the clear after 65 minutes following a fine pass from Norris but Bass saved easily from 12 yards.

Moments later the visitors’ best chance to open the scoring fell to Alassana Jatta but he headed over from six yards.

Further chances fell to County in the closing stages but Dan Crowley, Jodi Jones and Scott were unable to convert as both sides made do with a point.
