Nick Jonas is supporting Chrissy Teigen and John Legend‘s son, Miles.
Teigen, 38, shared that her 6-year-old son was recently diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes via Instagram on Wednesday. Her statement came after fans noticed a glucose monitor on Miles’ arm in a photo shared earlier in the week while at the 2024 Paris Olympics. But Miles wasn’t the only one in the stands with Type 1 diabetes.
When comments of support from friends and fans flooded Teigen’s post detailing Miles’ diagnosis of the life-long autoimmune disease after falling ill with shigella at camp, one commenter suggested that Miles meet with Jonas, 31, who has been vocal about living with Type 1 diabetes since he was first diagnosed when he was 13 years old.
“My two brothers have T1, love that book. ❤️ @nickjonas does too, your son should go meet bad a** people, and see he’s not alone and can still accomplish anything,” the comment read. “It’s scary but it becomes second nature and you guys will rock it.”
Teigen — who also shares son Wren Alexander, 1, and daughters Esti Maxine, 1, and Luna Simone, 8, with Legend — replied to the commenter, saying, “Nick was so kind to him!! We were so lucky to run into him ❤️.”
On Sunday, Jonas was spotted in Bercy Arena speaking with Legend and Teigen as they attended the Artistic Gymnastics Women’s Qualification at the 2024 Paris Olympics. With Miles also in the photo, it can be assumed that the two spoke at that time.
In Teigen’s post, she wrote in part, “You noticed his type -1 diabetes monitor and extended so much love and encouragement in every way possible. I was and am, so blown away by the kindness of this community already.” She continued to thank everyone for their support, adding, “This post is to thank you so much for your kindness. It helps Miles so much to know so many other people are going through the same thing and he is not alone.”
On Wednesday, a fan praised Teigen for sharing Miles’ diagnosis publicly. The message read in part, “Someone with @chrissyteigen platform could be such an advocate for diabetes! I hope she uses it 🤣 also maybe can spread a little diabetes education so people stop thinking everyone with diabetes got it from eating too much sugar 😂 not how it works folks hahaha.”
Teigen reposted the Instagram Story to her own, writing, “my new mission. I whole heartedly promise to advocate for you.”
Support is important to the diabetes community. Jonas emphasized just as much when he opened up about his longtime battle with diabetes via an Instagram post in November 2018. He thanked fans for their kind words and support, saying it “means more than you know.”
He has previously also shared the signs that led him to a diagnosis.
