Stanley cups (particularly the 40-Oz. Quencher) have been one of the hottest items of the past couple years — a plot twist for a century-old brand that, until recently, was the furthest thing from “trending.”

The good news: Limited-time collections aside, for the better part of a year, the Stanley 40-oz. Quencher has been readily available and in stock. Long gone are the days that this cup was impossible to get.

However … if you want a specific color or a cup that’s part of a limited-time collection, the game changes. Just because the Stanley Quencher is available in general, doesn’t mean the exact color you want will be. Here’s how to navigate the hype and find Stanley cups in stock.

Is the Stanley Chroma Collection in Stock?

Nope. The Chroma collection dropped on Feb. 15 and quickly sold out. Check to see if it’s been restocked. So far, we’ve seen only Stanley selling this collection (no other retailers). It’s a bit pricier than Stanley’s usual collections (the 40-oz. Quencher, for example, is $55 compared to the usual $45).

Are Stanley’s New Colors in Stock?

Image: Amazon

Yes! Stanley’s latest color releases, Indigo and Seafoam, are both currently in stock at most retailers that carry Stanley Quenchers, including Amazon and Stanley.

In addition, several of Stanley’s new colors released in 2024 are still in stock, including the Heat Wave collection, Peony and Nectarine colorways and the Reverb collection.

Check for more upcoming drop dates for limited-edition Stanley cups.

Are the Tie-Dyed Stanleys Still Available?

Stanley dropped a line of tie-dyed cups last year, and they sold out quickly. There are currently options available at Walmart and Amazon, but they are available for a higher price point.

Are Target’s Stanley Adventure Quencher Colors Still Available?

Target and Stanley teamed up to offer some different color lines in ombre, pearlescent, die-dye a Magnolia Hearth & Hand collection, a Valentine’s Day collection and a Summer collection. These collections ALWAYS sell out fast, and the ones mentioned above are long gone (except for on third-party resale sites).

Where Can I Find the Stanley Quencher?

The in-stock status of the Stanley Adventure Quencher is always shifting. But here’s exactly where to check for it, to give yourself the biggest chance at snagging a specific color. Don’t get your hopes up of finding Stanley on sale (it’s still too popular).

1. Amazon

Image: Amazon

Amazon has an extensive selection of Stanley Quenchers in a wide array of colors, and it carries Stanley water bottles, mugs and other drinkware and accessories from the brand. The great part about shopping for Stanley on Amazon is that you can get free shipping (on almost all Stanley purchases), you can take advantage of exclusive Amazon saving opportunities and your shipping will be fast, too.

Amazon currently has Stanley’s latest colorways available – Indigo and Seafoam – and you can find many of the colorways released throughout this past year, as well, including the Reverb and Heat Wave collections.

2. Stanley Website

Visit Stanley’s official website to learn about its current products and inventory. Stock is currently really good, even on the newer colorways, with more than a dozen options available.

If there’s a particular color you want that’s not in stock, you can enter your email address to be notified when it comes back in stock. Just act fast when you get that email.

If you are open to (or prefer) smaller sizes without handles there are plenty of other Adventure Quencher Travel Tumblers in stock as well.

3. Williams Sonoma

Williams Sonoma sells the Stanley Quencher 40 oz. Tumbler and has several colors available in both the 40-oz. and 30-oz size. Its color selection usually isn’t as large as other retailers’ but you’ve got options.

4. Dick’s Sporting Goods

Dick’s Sporting Goods sells the Stanley Adventure Quencher 40 oz. online and in stores. And its selection and colors are usually what you’ll also find on Stanley’s site.

5. Target

Target sells the Stanley Adventure Quencher 40 oz. online and in-store, but the colors tend to be more limited than at other stores. However, Target is famous for its limited-edition (and VERY limited-quantity) colorways that drop and immediately sell out. Plus, Starbucks locations within Target stores also get their own special-edition colors. So keep an eye on Target if you’re a Stanley collector.

6. Poshmark

However, you will pay way more than the retail price for these items. They range in price from $80 to $150. If you are after a limited-edition color and didn’t get in line at 6 a.m. at your local Target, this is a good resource. Learn how to sell your stuff on Poshmark.

7. REI

REI is a reliable Stanley supplier and often stocks the new colors as they come in. Sometimes, it offers early access to new color drops to its members, which can be a good way to snag a hard-to-get color.

8. eBay

There are plenty of listings on eBay for the 40-oz. Stanley Adventure Quencher — even some of the Target colors. Expect a markup, though, of anywhere from $10 to $40 above the usual price, depending on the color. Note: offers in the image above are for example only and subject to change. Some of the cups are available with eBay’s Buy it Now option, while some of them are up for auction (which could actually get you a cheaper price for colors with less interest).

9. Mercari

The store where you can sell and buy pretty much anything from anyone has plenty of the “rare” Stanley Adventure Quencher colors available, but at a markup. Expect to pay up to $120 for some colors on Mercari. The recently-sold-out Orchid color is $100. If you’re looking for a common color, you might actually get a nice discount. We see options for as low as $38.

Why Does Stanley Adventure Quencher Sell Out Sometimes?

The Stanley Adventure Quencher 40 oz. Tumbler was always sold out for the better part of 2022 because it’s a full-blown internet star. In an article by Forbes, they mentioned that restocked products sell out in 24 hours. While we wouldn’t call $45 to $50 cheap (price varies by color line), the Stanley Adventure Quencher is affordable enough to make it a wildly popular internet sensation.

If all the reviewers, bloggers, Instagram accounts and TikTok videos are right, it’s popular also because it truly is a well-designed and useful product. The Stanley Adventure Quencher 40 oz. Tumbler is made of insulated stainless steel, comes in stylish colorways, offers multiple lid configurations for different uses and has an ergonomic handle. It also keeps drinks hot for seven hours, cold for 11 hours and iced for up to two whole days.

Reusable cups, in general, are also getting more popular. Every doctor, nutritionist and fitness buff will tell you that staying hydrated is one of the most important ways to maintain overall health and wellness. But it can be tough to meet your daily water/hydration needs, especially when you are out and about. You can buy a drink or bottle of water, but when you consider the cost of single-serve drinks and, more importantly, the ecological impact of the associated waste, it makes much more sense to bring your own reusable drink to-go. There are endless reusable cups and bottles on the market but it’s not easy to find really good reusable drink cups, so it’s no wonder that the clever, well-designed Stanley Adventure Quencher is in such high demand.
