Tractor Supply gives shoppers 30 days to get a price match if they find a lower price from a competing store. End of article, thanks for coming. But seriously, as an owner of 2 horses, a pygmy goat, 3 dogs, and a cat…I’ve gotten very familiar with the price match policy at Tractor Supply and have used it many times. I talk about exactly how to get a price match, the brands that you should be looking at for a price match, and the competing stores (both online and brick & mortar) that are worth investigating.
You Can Match Online and In-Store Pricing
Tractor Supply is one of a handful of stores that offers both an in-store AND online price match.
As long as the item is in-stock at the competing store, and identical (model/color/size), you can get some money back into your pocket.
The “color” thing always confused me, but it’s definitely true that some colors are more popular and thus more expensive. So it makes sense that you couldn’t buy a popular red toolbox and then try and get a price match for the lime green toolbox that nobody wants and is 25% cheaper at “XYZ store”.
PRO TIP: DON’T BE AFRAID TO NEGOTIATE AT LOWER PRICE
When shopping for expensive items like mowers, power tools, and generators at Tractor Supply, DON’T be afraid to negotiate a lower price.
Often times they have some wiggle room, especially at the end of the season when they’re trying to get rid of stuff to make room for new inventory.
Plus, I’ve had employees tell me they can’t lower the price but they’ll point me to a return or open-box item that’s a screaming deal that I probably never would have noticed otherwise. Be nice, start a conversation and you’re bound to find a great deal.
Some Stuff is Not Eligible
The biggest thing to remember here is that the item can’t be marked down at the competing store or website. It’s gotta be the “regular price”.
So it can’t be on clearance, or a closeout sale, or a special order, or a lower price using a coupon, or a flat-out pricing error.
It also can’t be a pre-owned or trade-in product, which I think makes perfect sense.
PRO TIP: SCREENSHOT THE ESSENTIALS
Whenever I find a lower price at a competing store on my phone, the first thing I do is take a quick screenshot that I’ll be able to use as evidence.
Make sure you capture the price, model or SKU, size or count, and the in-stock status so it’s easy for the employee to verify the item at the counter.

PRO TIP: ALWAYS FILTER YOUR AMAZON RESULTS
On Amazon, always filter your search results to only include Amazon as the seller. The reason is because Tractor Supply excludes all 3rd party and Marketplace sellers.
This includes not just Amazon as Walmart and others also have 3rd party sellers.
Steps to Make a Price Match Happen When In-Store
Just walk up to any cashier with your receipt and tell them you want to do a price match.
Like I mentioned earlier, I like to have a screenshot on my phone of the lower price and be sure it includes the size, model, and color. This is usually sufficient evidence for the employee to then do their magic and get you some money back.
I’ve also been asked to pull up the live website on my phone that shows the lower price, so be prepared to do that as well.
Also, it’s worth noting that for in-store purchases you can ONLY get an in-store price match. You gotta go back to the store, you can’t do it online.
PRO TIP: FIND IT CHEAPER AT TRACTOR SUPPLY.COM?
Always check the online price at TractorSupply.com or via their app before you start investigating any competitor pricing.
It’s often cheaper, especially when you change your location within the TSC app to the biggest city near you.
Tractor Supply stores in rural areas are often 10-15% more expensive then “big city” locations. I’m dead serious, try this yourself.
Then when you find the product cheaper on their app or website, just tell an employee and they’ll match it on the spot.
And Steps for an Online Price Match…
You have a couple options actually.
You can either fill out this tedious Contact Us form and try to figure out where to put your price match details, or the MUCH EASIER option of calling TSC at 1-877-718-6750 and request your price match that way.
After you dial the number, you’ll have to work your way through the phone options until you get to an actual human being (option #9 is what finally got me to a “team member”)
Once you reach a human, tell them you want to price match an online purchase and they’ll ask you to provide the webpage that shows the lower price. This CAN all be done over the phone, I’ve done it several times.
After they verify the price, and it meets all the criteria that I explained above, they’ll refund you to your original form of payment.
PRO TIP: FIND OUT WHEN YOUR STORE RESTOCKS
Ask an employee when they restock their bagged animal foods. Horse, chicken, dog, cat, goat, whatever animal you need to buy grain or food for.
Then shop the morning after the restock, right when they open, and you’ll almost always find big savings on bags that were accidentally cut open or ripped open.
I do this regularly and save 30% off grain for our horse as well as the occasional 50% off bag of dog food.
Ask the Reader: Have you ever gotten a price match at Tractor Supply? Was it easy or more hassle than it was worth? Let me know yo.
