Code orange, I repeat, code orange. This TikTok hashtag has brought to our attention that Halloween and fall decor has started to appear in stores. In fact, some TikTokers were reporting pumpkin and ghost sightings as early as the first week of July. While you certainly shouldn’t wish away these last sunny days of summer, it’s never too early to look ahead to the next season. And now that the hashtag has had time to make its rounds on the social media app, we’ve had time to decipher what decor is quickly becoming the most talked about, or in other words, going #viral.
With all the buzz around these sought after items, be warned that if you don’t start shopping now you could very well miss out on the most popular indoor and outdoor decor for this year’s spooky season. Keep reading to find out what Halloween decorations are trending and where exactly to get your hands on it.
Throw pillows can be a functional decor choice while also making a style statement and plush pillows are here in a big way this season. From pumpkins to ghost families, to snoopy wearing a witch hat, there’s something for everyone. The highly sought after large couch sitting skeleton pillows are already virtually impossible to find with the exception of Mr. Bones at Pottery Barn.
Ghosts of any kind are also taking over homes this fall with statues of all sizes leading the trend. Mugs, canisters, glowing draped ghosts and of course, pillows are all must haves. Use them to create a spooky yet spirited theme inside or out.
And finally, some of last year’s trends are on repeat for 2024. Giant lawn ghouls, posable skeleton decorations and animatronics are back and bigger than ever. Also returning this year (and currently being found in additional pastel colors) are the viral pink ghost blankets.
Many popular retailers are known for introducing new Halloween collections every year to satisfy Halloween lovers the world over. It seems TikTokers are all flocking to their local T.J. Maxx, Marshalls and HomeGoods locations to feed their Halloween decor addictions but those stores have little to no online presence and can be hit or miss when shopping for something specific. So go on a ghost hunt with us to a few other places where you might have better luck finding the fun yet frightful items you should be grabbing to absolutely slay the current TikTok trends. Don’t forget to check available cash back deals through RetailMeNot to eek out some savings too.
We can’t decide if this is creepy or enchanting but either way it’s selling out scary fast. This viral ghost statue is suitable for indoor and outdoor use and is available with or without the dainty flower crown.
This 12-pack of floating taper candles is sure to add a magical ambiance to your home this Halloween. These battery operated flameless candles are safe for use around kids and pets and come complete with a magic wand remote to turn them on and off with just one click.
Pink Halloween is trending again this year and so are these viral pink ghost blankets. They’ll be hard to find at Homegoods locations but Amazon to the rescue with an adorable dupe to keep you warm and cozy on those cool October nights.
If you prefer more minimalist decor, this set of two soft sherpa like pumpkin pillows is for you. Available in five colors, these kid friendly pumpkins can be used on a shelf, bed or sofa to add a neutral fall touch to your space.
Things are about to get real scary with this motion activated gourd monster hanging around. It speaks spooky phrases and has LED light up effects in its head. Assembly is required to get all seven feet of hair-raising haunts into action.
This is the first time in Target’s history that the retailer has reprised a large-scale Halloween character. After gaining such social media momentum last year, Lewis is not just back, he has arrived with new friends.
Here’s yet another playful pillow option to add to your collection because one decorative throw pillow will certainly not be enough to achieve the halloween vibe you’re seeking. It is made of soft faux shearling and can smile at you from the sofa or side chair.
Pose this lifesize skeleton anywhere you’d like for a bit of haunted fun. The five foot skeleton does not require batteries and is not sold in stores. Target also has many other sizes and colors available for your eerie pleasure.
Since viral is synonymous with popular, it stands to reason many of the hot decor items trending on TikTok may be out of stock or just plain impossible to find. When this happens you can always turn to other selling platforms to find those decor pieces you just can’t live without.
