Riki Lindhome and Fred Armisen are married — and they’ve managed to keep the news quiet for two years.
As the Wednesday actress newly revealed to People, she and Armisen tied the knot on June 1, 2022, three months after she welcomed her son, Keaton, via surrogate. However, while she had been expecting her baby boy, marrying the Saturday Night Live alum was something Lindhome had not expected.
“I was ready to date him, I didn’t know what it would turn into,” she told People. “I thought maybe I would be a single mom with a boyfriend. I didn’t know what would happen. I didn’t even know if he was interested at first — I didn’t know anything. But it was a natural evolution.”
While they reportedly have known each other for more than a decade, Lindhome developed romantic feelings for Armisen while working together on the Netflix series centered on Wednesday Addams — and while her baby plans were already in motion behind the scenes. “I could tell I was having feelings, but then I was like, ‘Well, I can’t say anything because I’m about to have a baby,” she recalled to the magazine.
Ultimately, however, the two began dating and after Keaton arrived, the actress moved in with Armisen as they became a family. “I told him, ‘So you just tell me what your heart says, and he said ‘Yes,'” she said, reflecting on her desire not to pressure Armisen. “It was just insta-family, basically.”
They made things official in the eyes of the law when they tied the knot unannounced and sans engagement inside a courthouse on the first Wednesday in June — a nod to their shared project. Keaton and a friend, who served as the witness, were their guests for the three-minute ceremony.
“I didn’t even tell my mom,” Lindhome told People. “I never wanted to get married. I am not a wedding person. It’s not for me. But this was just for us. We also didn’t want to hurt people’s feelings by not having a wedding — and we didn’t want to get pressured into having one. We just wanted to be like, “Guess what we did a few months ago?'”
This is the third marriage for Armisen, who previously wed Sally Timms and later Elisabeth Moss. He was in a near-decade relationship with Natasha Lyonne, who publicly confirmed their split in April 2022.
