Meta Adds More Creative Options to Edits App

Meta’s certainly staying true to its word on rolling out regular updates to its new “Edits” video editing app, with another round of new Edits features now available to users.

First off, Meta’s adding new “beat markers” to help you align your video clips to the rhythm of your audio backing.

As you can see in this example, beat markers will make it easier to create clips that move in-time with your chosen musical accompaniment, which can make for more stand-out, engaging videos.

It’s a handy, simplified editing option, that can significantly improve your clips. You still need to carefully time and place your footage, but it’s easier than trying to manually edit in time with music.

(For context, TikTok’s video editing app CapCut also has similar beat-matching tools, including its AI-powered “auto-beat” feature.)

Meta’s also adding more elements to its “Inspiration” tab, that’ll make it easier to utilize audio from another clip, or replicate the style in your own videos.

While it’s also adding more animation and filter options to your editing tools.

As noted, Meta’s staying true to its pledge to keep updating the app. Edits was launched to all users on April 22nd, and since then, Meta’s already announced two rounds of updates with new features for the app.

And it’s got more coming.

In the lead-up to the launch of Edits, Meta outlined a range of coming features, including AI-generated background editing, still image animation, and collaboration tools.

Those aren’t available as yet, but they are coming, while Meta’s also looking to add an AI feature that will enable you to change the entire context of any clip.

These more advanced elements could make Edits a must-have video editing option. I mean, it’s already pretty good, especially for a free app (and worth noting that its coming AI features may require Meta to charge users for access).

But more features will make it even more valuable, and with Meta’s AI capacity continuing to expand, its ability to incorporate more immersive, engaging AI options, in particular, could be interesting.

Meta says these new Edits features are available in the latest version of the app.
