Mechanistic understanding and efficient engineering of crystal phases in 2D materials

  • RESEARCH BRIEFINGS

Optical spectroscopy has been used to monitor a transition between crystal phases in materials called transition metal dichalcogenides. The findings improve our understanding of how this transition occurs, and reveal ways in which it can made less hazardous and time-consuming. That could enable the materials’ use in electronic and energy applications.
