Keanu Reeves Reveals He Suffered a Serious Injury While Filming ‘Good Fortune’

Keanu Reeves is revealing how he injured himself while filming Good Fortune

On Monday, Reeves made a captivating appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, where he humorously recounted the story of how he broke his kneecap. The 59-year-old actor, renowned for his action roles as Neo in The Matrix and John Wick, was asked by the 60-year-old host, Stephen Colbert, about the incident.

“What happened? Who got to you?” Stephen asked.

“No one got to me,” Keanu replied in a playful tough-guy voice. “Accident got to me.”

“Were you jumping from building to building? Were you doing a cartwheel past razor blades? What were you doing?” Stephen probed.

“No, Stephen, I was walking into the dressing room, a room. I will tell it quick,” Keanu explained.

Keanu shared that he was filming a scene for the upcoming comedy Good Fortune with Aziz Ansari, 41, and Seth Rogen, 42. They were in a cold plunge, and Keanu was enjoying it. After finishing, he started doing the “cold shuffle” in a room with protective carpets. Unfortunately, his foot got caught in a pocket while he was shuffling.

Standing up to demonstrate, Keanu walked in front of Stephen’s desk and showed how he fell, explaining how his knee gave way. “And I spiked. Like, spiked,” he said, mimicking the motion with his knee. “Just drove it into the ground.”

“My patella, kneecap, cracked like a potato chip. But I didn’t know that. But then once my knee was blowing up,” Keanu continued.

“Comedy is hard, man,” Keanu quipped.

“This was not an action film with Aziz and Rogen,” Stephen pointed out.

“No, it was comedy,” Keanu confirmed.

“Welcome to my life,” Stephen joked.

Keanu had been spotted filming in January on crutches with an ice pack on his knee.

Good Fortune marks Ansari’s directorial debut. He also wrote and co-produced the film, which also stars Keke Palmer and Sandra Oh.
