Kamala Harris Makes Appearance on ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars’ Season 9 Finale

You think you just fell out of a coconut tree? Nope, you read it right — Kamala Harris is making history on the RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars season 9 finale as the first sitting Vice President to appear on RuPaul’s Drag Race.

While All Star contestants face glitter, glam and fierce competition, Harris is addressing high stakes of her own. In a preview of the episode, the 59-year-old political figure — endorsed by President Joe Biden as his preferred successor on the Democratic ticket in the upcoming 2024 presidential election — urged viewers to register to vote.

“Hi everyone, it’s Kamala Harris. Each day, we’re seeing our rights and freedoms under attack, including the right of everyone to be who they are, love who they love — openly and with pride,” said Harris during her appearance, which is set to air Friday night, sitting alongside judge Michelle Visage, pop star Lance Bass, actor Cheyenne Jackson, choreographer Jamal Sims and actress Leslie Jones.

She continued, “So, as we fight back against these attacks, let’s all remember, no one is alone. We are all in this together, and your vote is your power. So please make sure your voice is heard this November, and register to vote at vote.gov.”

Jackson then asked, “Can I get an Amen?” to which everyone cheered “Amen!”

Jones then sent the segment off by turning to the camera and saying, “And remember, you betta vote!”

The final episode will cap a season featuring a new set of rules for eight returning divas Angeria Paris VanMicheals, Gottmik, Jorgeous, Nina West, Plastique Tiara, Roxxxy Andrews, Shannel and Vanessa Vanjie Mateo, with each of the all-star queens competing to receive a coveted spot in the “Drag Race Hall of Fame” and to win a supersized donation of $200,000 for their chosen charity across a non-elimination edition of the competition.

Harris’ timely message comes shortly after former President Barack Obama and former first lady Michelle Obama endorsed Harris for the Democratic nomination for president following Biden bowing out of the 2024 presidential race. They vowed to do all they can to help her defeat former President Donald Trump in November.

“We called to say Michelle and I couldn’t be prouder to endorse you and do everything we can to get you through this election and into the Oval Office,” Barack told Harris over the phone in a video posted by her campaign

Michelle added, “I am proud of you. This is going to be historic.”

On Sunday, Harris said that she intends to “earn and win” the Democratic presidential nomination.

“I am honored to have the president’s endorsement and my intention is to earn and win this nomination,” she said in a statement. “Over the past year, I have traveled across the country, talking with Americans about the clear choice in this momentous election. And that is what I will continue to do in the days and weeks ahead. I will do everything in my power to unite the Democratic Party — and unite our nation — to defeat Donald Trump and his extreme Project 2025 agenda.”

With Biden’s and the Obamas’ endorsement, Harris has secured support from all major Democrats and party leaders in Congress. Other well-known Democrats who have announced their support for Harris include former President Bill Clinton and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Sen. Patty Murray, the highest-ranking woman in the upper chamber, and Sen. Elizabeth Warren.

The RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars season 9 finale streams Friday on Paramount+.
