Is Lionel Messi playing in the 2024 MLS All-Star Game?

Lionel Messi will not be playing in today’s MLS All-Star Game, the team announced on Monday. His Inter Miami FC teammate Luis Suarez also won’t compete in the game. Messi injured his ankle during Argentina’s Copa America final against Colombia. Suarez is suffering what the team described as “knee discomfort.”

Today’s game would have been the 37-year-old Messi’s MLS All-Star Game debut after he joined Inter Miami in July 2023.
