Chicago PD Season 12 Episode 2 Spoilers: Ruzek Seeks Revenge & Newbie Kiana Cook Debuts

Intelligence is seeking justice (or vengeance) for one of their own.

Yes, we’re still reeling from that intense opener, where Chicago PD Season 12 Episode 1 delivered lots of action, twists, turns, and a bloody shocking cliffhanger.

Our Chicago PD Season 12 Episode 2 spoilers speculated that the pacing would likely continue as Intelligence and Ruzek hit the ground running on Martel’s behalf.

Let’s get into the spoilers for this installment!

Chicago PD Season 12 Episode 2 is a Ruzek-Centric

It should come as no surprise whatsoever that after those jaw-dropping final moments of the premiere, we’re following up with a Ruzek-centric installment.

The premiere established that Ruzek and Emily Martel were close. They served as partners over the past month or so since she joined the unit and went to the academy together.

Chicago PD Season 12 Episode 2 spoilers suggest that the episode will pick up where the first hour left off, with Ruzek still under fire and awaiting backup while Martel bleeds out.

(Lori Allen/NBC)

Sadly, Martel was the victim of a headshot when she and Ruzek were assessing their surroundings and under fire.

The promo shows Ruzek will likely drag her closer to him as things are dying, but she’s a goner.

And a stunned Ruzek won’t have much time to process this traumatic loss, as he’ll get right into hunting DOWN whoever is responsible for Martel’s death.

Ironically, the hour is bound to be a pulse-pounding thriller, keeping up the relentless pace that Voight set, but for an entirely different reason.

We haven’t lost a member of the team or someone associated with it in such a gruesome manner in quite some time, so we can already guess the writers will come guns blazing with the upcoming episode.

(Lori Allen/NBC)

You don’t take out a character, even a brand-new one like Martel, in such a manner unless you’re going to make it worthwhile.

Chicago PD Season 12 Episode 2 Could Test or Highlight Ruzek’s Growth

We know that Ruzek has always been the hothead of the bunch and the most true blue character of them all.

He often has difficulty reconciling with negative aspects of the job or law enforcement, who reflect poorly on the gig.

But he also has such incredible loyalty and devotion to his fellow law enforcement, and an attack against any one of them is against him, too.

(Lori Allen/NBC)

This is as personal as it gets with a dear friend dying in the line of duty, much like her partner before.

We know that when it comes to the people he loves, Ruzek can particularly fly off the handle, and there’s no reeling him in.

But Ruzek has also evolved over the past couple of seasons, managing his temperament better, not being as reckless as he used to be, and generally becoming his best self.

Fatherhood has, in many ways, agreed with him, as he’s learned to consider his daughter’s and family’s future ahead of rash and impulsive decisions.

Ruzek’s “True Blue” Nature Comes Full Force

(Lori Allen/NBC)

Martel’s death will prove challenging for him, but if he manages to work through getting shot and almost dying, Kim’s kidnapping, Mack’s abduction, and other such things, then he’ll get through this, too.

But it’s still Ruzek.

Frankly, I’m excited to see how laser-focused he becomes on bringing down the person responsible.

Adam Ruzek is about to be a problem and the street’s worst enemy until he gets justice.

I eagerly await to see every last second of it.

(Lori Allen/NBC)

Interestingly, the promo teases that Voight, who is Ruzek on steroids in similar situations, seems to take a more level-headed approach.

Oh, we can believe that he won’t settle into they find out who killed Martel, but he’s also the person who tells Ruzek that they’re not after revenge.

No way in hell will Ruzek take that well coming from Voight, of all people’s mouths, but it could genuinely be an attempt to salvage whatever case they’re building and keep Ruzek from fully going off the deep end.

Spoilers suggest that Burgess is likely still away at her conference and won’t be there to support Ruzek through this harrowing time.

Ruzek May Lean on Other Intelligence Members W/O Burgess

(Lori Allen/NBC)

But that means Ruzek will have other unit members to lean on during all this.

We obviously see Atwater in a few stills, breaching a place of interest and looking deathly serious in another image.

There’s no love like the Ruzwater bromance, and we already know that Atwater will have Ruzek’s back through this all; plus, he seemed to have developed a fun bond with the late Martel himself.

Torres may also be around to lend his support despite his lack of appearance in the promo.

(Lori Allen/NBC)

It does appear that he’s in the background of one of the images, though.

Kiana Cook Makes Her Debut in Chicago PD Season 12 Episode 2

However, the most exciting development amid this is that spoilers suggest that Chicago PD Season 12 Episode 2 will be Tonya Turner’s debut as newcomer Kiana Cook.

Many of the images depict Kiana riding shotgun with Ruzek for the duration of the installment and this case.

We see various images of her in the car with him, questioning suspects alongside him, and thoroughly in the heat of the action, based on a few photos of the pair raising their guns and ready for all the action and smoke.

(Lori Allen/NBC)

When we spoke with showrunner Gwen Sigan, we learned that Kiana is a patrol officer (for now) who lives for the action and essentially sounded like a certified action star and badass.

She thrives on the job’s physical demands and doesn’t shy away from any intense situation that could put her in danger.

She’s the type of cop you would love to have by your side, fearless, persistent, and relentless.

The Ruzek/Cook Matchup Will Be Action-Packed and Must-See

We get glimpses of that in the spoiler images released for Chicago PD Season 12 Episode 2.

(Lori Allen/NBC)

Kiana’s debut on the series is going to be INTENSE!!

She may be the patrol officer who arrives first at the scene, and she and Ruzek may pursue whatever leads from there.

Martel’s short-lived presence on the series gave us our first Hailey replacement.

She was a great detective who had been adapting to the unit well for the past month.

However, with her death, Kiana Cook has entered the mix, which is also interesting.

(Lori Allen/NBC)

It’s an entirely different energy, and “Blood Bleeds Blue” will surely give us a full scope of what this newbie is capable of and why she’ll be sticking around for a while.

Voight’s New Approach to Death and Loss Makes Him Less Predictable

Ruzek will be at the forefront of this hour, but one also has to wonder how the tragic loss of a unit member will affect Voight.

He’s taken on such a unique perception of death after nearly dying, and he’s still adapting to losing those close in various ways.

Martel’s death feels like something else that could severely impact him. However, it doesn’t seem that way in the promo, which is interesting.

(Lori Allen/NBC)

Whatever the case may be, this promises to be an EXPLOSIVE hour of Chicago PD, which has already gotten off to a great start this season.
