Ben Affleck is embracing a new chapter in his life, feeling “hopeful” after moving into a new home.
A source tells ET, “Ben really likes his new home and feels hopeful about the change. He wanted to move and be closer to Jen Garner and their kids to make co-parenting easier. It’s been a hard time for him, but He’s continuing to make his wellbeing and his family a priority.”
The Oscar-winning actor, 51, recently purchased a $20.5 million equestrian estate in Los Angeles. This move comes just weeks after he listed the home he owns with Jennifer Lopez for sale amid rumors of marital strife.
Affleck acquired the five-bedroom residence last week from David Calvert-Jones, the nephew of billionaire media mogul Rupert Murdoch, according to property records.
Lopez celebrated her 55th birthday last month, and a source told ET that the iconic pop star was “doing her best to stay positive and focus on the great things in her life” amid ongoing rumors that she and Affleck are headed toward divorce.
The source said that Lopez — who spent her birthday in Bridgehampton, New York — “always loves getting to spend time on the East Coast, especially during the summer, and it’s been nice for her to be surrounded by friends and family who love her.”
“It has been a hard year with some unexpected realizations, changes, and obstacles, but Jen is trying to view her 55th birthday as a fresh start,” the source added. “She is trying not to let her situation with Ben bring her down.”
Ahead of their anniversary last month, a source told ET that the couple — who rekindled their love in 2022 — are focused on their family as they work on their lives separately.
“Jen and Ben have been trying to focus on their loved ones while spending time apart,” the source shared. “Jen and Ben are both keeping their kids and respective families at the forefront of their minds as they move through these changes.”
The source added that the pair are focused on their kids, which includes Affleck’s children Violent, 18, Seraphina, 15, and Samuel, 12, and Lopez’s 16-year-old twins, Max and Emme.
“They’re trying to present themselves in a positive way for their kids,” the source noted.
